9/3/2016 - Olympian Visit - Julian Golley
Yesterday, St John's were lucky enough to be visited by the double Olympian, Commonwealth games gold medallist triple jumper Julian Golley! All children in the school got the opportunity to have their photo taken with Julian and completed several activities to raise money for future olympians and CAFOD, the charity chosen by our school council. All the children were fantastic and did brilliantly during the different exercises. Following the activities, Julian held an assembly in which he demonstrated his fantastic triple jump skills, talked about his life and becoming an olympian, as well as answering some of the children's questions. Hopefully the children will be inspired to try new things and who knows, maybe there is a future Olympian hiding somewhere at St John's!!
7/10/2015 - Year 5/6 Inter-house Tag Rugby
This term Year 5 and 6 have been practicing their tag rugby skills with the help of Tiverton Rugby club. Having learnt the rules and how to play as a team, it was time for some competition! Combining Year 5 and 6 and splitting into the different house groups, all teams did brilliantly, especially considering they had not played in these teams before. Well done to all the children and thanks again Tiverton Rugby Club!
20/10/2015 - Year 2 Highschool P.E. visit
On Tuesday, the whole of Year 2 walked over to the highschool to experience a range of exciting activities led by some of the students. They practiced their ball control and learnt some new skills along with many other Tiverton Schools.
15/7/2015 - KS2 Cricket Tournament
On a beautiful, sunny day, St John's were represented by a Year3/4 team and Year 5/6 team at Heathcoat Cricket Club, Knightshayes. The competition was attended by several Tiverton schools, all competing to win. All the children were fantastic on the day, thoroughly enjoying the event (they even got a free lunch!!)
At the end of the competition and after play-off games, the Year5/6 team finished in 3rd place and the Year3/4 team finished in 2nd! Well done to both teams!
10/6/2015 - Tiverton Swimming Gala
On Wednesday 10th June 2015, twelve students from years three, four and five went to participate in a swimming gala to represent our school, against six other schools from Tiverton. We took part in races for three different strokes: Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and also took part in relay races.
Every student did really, really well and three students came first! They were Dylan (Year 4), Ellie and Olivia (Year 5). We had a choice of starting in the pool or we could dive from the side, but we didn’t use the blocks. We did some outstanding swimming and amazingly St. John’s came 5th overall. Special mention should go to Ben and Bethany and George who all, very bravely, had to swim in an older age group.
The pupils who took part in this event were Ben G and Bethany from year three; Lucy, Tabitha, Oscar, Dylan and George from year four; Olivia, Ellie, Amelia, harry P and Dillon from year 5. Thank you to Mrs. Fullick and Mrs. Hudd for taking us for this wonderful experience at the Exe Valley Leisure Centre.

26/3/2015 - Wilcombe Wobbler Results
The St John's team were outstanding during the very testing Wilcombe Wobbler Cross-country running this year. As a team, they were able to finish 5th out of a total of 16 teams! This is the best result St John's has had since the event started and is thanks to the fantastic effort by all the children involved. A special mention needs to be made for Samuel Cottrell who managed to finish third overall in the field of Year5/6 children. Congratulations to all the Wilcombe Wobblers who took part!!
17/3/2015 - Year6 Football League Results
Following on from Year 3 and 4, on the 17th March, the Year6 football team also participated in a football festival. Playing a total of 5 matches against other schools, they were undefeated, with 4 wins and a draw. They played brilliantly as a team, with some great defending from Henry Harvey, excellent midfield play from Alfie Farleigh and Ellis Passmore and superb goals from Samuel Cottrell. Well done to all of the team!
