Science!

Year 2 absolutely love carrying out science investigations! This term we have been investigating different materials and their properties. This week we looked at materials being waterproof. We tested wax crayons, oil pastels and vaseline to see if they made card waterproof or not? The children loved seeing the water run off the card and realising that wax makes the card water resistant. We then talked about why are coats are waterproof and why we need them. The children had to consider the following questions: Why is waterproof material sometimes used for clothing? Can you think of other reasons why material needs to be made waterproof?
